Phil Ivey is a 32-year old poker champion who was born in California but raised in New Jersey where he began his career in the card game. In his early years, he used to spend a lot of time playing video games which was his first passion. He also worked as a salesman for a telemarketing company in New Jersey before breaking his ground in poker.

Phil Ivey's grandfather who will also be part of his biography introduced him to poker and taught him the intricacies of the exciting game so that when he became a teenager, he made up his mind to be a professional gambler.
 

When he was 16, he once won a poker competition which was the beginning of his breakthrough as he started looking forward to bigger challenges. When he turned 18, he took regular trips to New Jersey's Atlantic City casinos where he played games that helped to hone his poker playing skills. Although he lost a good number of games when he started out, he quickly learnt from his mistakes by staging big comeback games that took all the way to the top of his games. At 23, Phil Ivey beat Phil Hellmuth to win his 1st World Series of Poker.

By the time he turned 26 in the year 2002, Phil who is also referred to as the "Tiger Woods of Poker" had thrice been crowned the world's champion of poker. After relocating to Long Beach, California, he won 3 WSOP bracelets including other poker tournaments. One of his best skills as revealed by those who have competed with him is his ability to remain 'unreadable' during poker games. Aside this, he has truly earned a great deal of respect in the international poker community for someone of his age. Phil later became one of the worst nightmares of poker players when he got into high stakes cash games in some of the Las Vegas' casinos.

The highly experienced poker player proved his proficiency and mastery of the card game by excelling in almost every area of poker – from online to live cash games; although he is better off in the latter. Phil is seen as a ‘game changer’ in poker in the sense that he has taken on the winner’s baton from the older folks who have always been dominating the champions’ table. Phil’s bio will definitely be incomplete without his second or better half who has been instrumental to his string of successes in poker gaming. He is married to Luciaetta, his high school heartthrob and they both live together in Las Vegas, Nevada.
